NorthPointe Team Member Recognized by Food & Wine for Exceptional Hospitality
Celebrating Josephine “Jo” Tin of Harborview Restaurant & Lounge, whose personal approach to service exemplifies the lasting impact of genuine hospitality.
At NorthPointe Hospitality Management, we believe exceptional hospitality begins with people. It’s found in the thoughtful details, familiar faces, and meaningful connections that turn an ordinary visit into an experience guests remember. Recently, one of our own team members received national recognition for bringing that philosophy to life.
Josephine “Jo” Tin, a longtime bartender at Harborview Restaurant & Lounge at the Holiday Inn Charleston-Riverview, was featured in Food & Wine magazine’s 2026 Hospitality Heroes series, which celebrates the dedicated hospitality professionals who make restaurants and bars special.
The Power of Making Every Guest Feel Known
For more than 13 years, Jo has made a lasting impression on guests and locals who visit Harborview. Known for remembering names, favorite drinks, and personal details, she creates an atmosphere where guests feel welcomed, valued, and genuinely cared for.
Located on the 15th floor of the iconic round Holiday Inn Charleston-Riverview, Harborview offers sweeping views of Charleston’s Lowcountry landscape. But as Jo’s story illustrates, the view is only part of the experience. It’s the people who bring a space to life.
Her relationships with guests often extend well beyond the bar. Regulars return not only for their favorite drinks but also for the familiarity, warmth, and conversations that make Harborview feel like a community. Over the years, those connections have grown into meaningful friendships, with guests celebrating milestones alongside Jo and checking in on her and her family.
A Natural Approach to Hospitality
Jo began her career in the restaurant industry after graduating high school, eventually joining Harborview without any prior bartending experience. Through a willingness to learn, dedication to her work, and a genuine interest in people, she developed the skills and relationships that have made her such an integral part of the team.
Her story is a reminder that outstanding hospitality goes beyond technical expertise. While skills can be taught, the sincerity, attentiveness, and personal care that Jo brings to every shift are what make her service memorable.
As highlighted in Food & Wine, her commitment has earned the admiration of both longtime patrons and colleagues, including Harborview’s food and beverage leadership. Her recognition celebrates not only her individual contributions but also the human connections that remain at the heart of the hospitality industry.
Celebrating the People Behind the Experience
At NorthPointe Hospitality Management, we know that our team members are the foundation of every successful guest experience. Across our portfolio, it is the dedication of individuals who show up each day with care, consistency, and pride in their work that brings our properties to life.
Jo’s recognition is a meaningful example of the impact one person can have on a hotel, its restaurant and bar, and the surrounding community. We are proud to celebrate her accomplishments and the genuine spirit of hospitality she represents.
Congratulations to Jo on this well-deserved recognition!
